The Tel Haim neighborhood borders with Givataim and is located east of the Ayalon River and the Yad Eliyahu neighborhood. It was founded during the 1930s on grounds procured by Hissin. During the Arab-Israeli War of 1948, the neighborhood housed an underground broadcasting facility for the Haganah military organization that contained the “New Country” movement’s main transmitter. Israel’s deceleration of independence was broadcast on shortwave radio from Tel Haim and heard across the globe. Today it is considered to be a prestigious neighborhood in its region. Aside from a few apartment buildings upon entering the neighborhood, it is mostly characterized by low construction, up to 2 stories tall. Also in the area is the Horodezky compound, which in the future will become a center of mixed land uses – residence, commerce, and leisure.

Founded in 1887, Neve Tzedek was the first official Jewish neighborhood built outside the walls of Old Jaffa. When strolling around its narrow streets and alleyways (Achva, Chelouche, HaRishonim), one can distinguish the unique architectural style of low-rise historical buildings. Renewed interest in the neighborhood began in the early 1980’s, mostly by young people, including many artists, who found the ambience in Neve Tzedek suited to their lifestyle. The new residents renovated homes that were in a state of neglect and injected new life into the neighborhood. The Suzanne Dellal Center, “HaTachana” (Ottoman Train Station) and the bars on the southern part of Lilienblum Street are prominent venues in Neve Tzedek’s nightlife and cultural scene. Its proximity to the Carmelite bus terminal makes it highly accessible via public transportation. Shabazi Street, which separates Neve Tzedek from the Shabazi neighborhood, has become a busy, fashionable street that boasts of boutiques selling designer clothes and home furnishings, galleries featuring handcrafted items, cafes, restaurants and pubs.

Sde Dov, also known by its official name the Dov Hoz Airport, is located in the northern part of Tel Aviv. The airport is used for civilian aviation and as an Israeli Air Force base. In 2010, the government decided to close the airport in order to advance the construction of thousands of housing units. A development plan is currently being promoted that will transform the area into a vibrant urban quarter occupied by residences, places of employment, commercial establishments and hotels, in addition to high-grade built and open public spaces. The plan, which encompasses an area of roughly 375 acres, has the following borders: to the east – Levi Eshkol Street, the new “Lamed” neighborhood and the Nofey Yam neighborhood; to the west – the beach; to the south – Shai Agnon Street; to the north – Propes Street. Operations at Sde Dov are expected to cease in the second half of 2016, and the vacation of the airport property is scheduled to be completed by 2018.

Maarav– The neighborhood is located in the southeastern part of Tel Aviv, north of Park Darom and Haim Bar Lev Road. In the past three decades, Neve Barbour has been undergoing urban renewal processes which entail the construction of hi-rise apartment buildings and an influx of new residents. Remnants of the old village of Kfar Shalem are still evident, some of which suffer from neglect. Nonetheless, the area enjoys the advantages of a quiet location, close to Park Darom and Wolfson Park. There is also a concentration of quality facilities in the neighborhood. Housing prices are relatively low compared to the rest of the city.

Neve Eliezer, which is located in the southeastern section of the city, north of Park Darom and Haim Bar Lev Road, is part of the Kfar Shalem cluster of neighborhoods. It is mostly populated by new immigrants who came to Israel in the 1950’s and 1960’s. There is a large shopping center in the middle of the neighborhood, surrounded by a mix of residential construction, and mainly multi-story buildings. Neve Eliezer has been undergoing urban renewal for a number of years, achieved primarily by tearing down small apartment buildings and replacing them with hi-rises. The latter processes should have an effect on the existing physical fabric and draw new people to the neighborhood.

Located in southeastern Tel Aviv, north of Menachem Begin Park (Darom Park) and Haim Barlev Road, this neighborhood was founded upon the ruins of the Arab village Salama after it was deserted in 1948, and populated with immigrants. The neighborhood is undergoing a gentrification process, with old village homes making way for tall buildings.
For that reason, certain parts of the neighborhood where the remnants of the old village still exist suffer from neglect, and the housing prices in the neighborhood are considered low, despite being a quiet neighborhood close to Menachem Begin Park and Edith Walfson Park.
